Discover the history of the Eichbaum Brewery and relive tradition!
History
Founded in 1679, Eichbaum has upheld the tradition of brewing with the finest quality, guided by the German Purity Law of 1516.
The roots of Eichbaum
On October 3, 1679, the Mannheim Council, headed by City Director Heinrich Clignet, granted citizen Jean de Chaine permission to operate a brewery in his house at Q5, 23–24. The council approved, as can be read in the council protocol “the hanging of a sign with a tree on his dwelling in Mauritzgaßen” in today’s “Fressgasse”.
